The ply to the customary enthrallment of the graven image of lord Ganesha in the Hussain sagar was set in motion by Balapur ganesh in 1980.
Bhagyanagar, the erstwhile name of Hyderabed. Bhagyanagar ustav Samithi appertaining to Bhagyanagar summoned that "The entirety of ganesh idols belonging to RR district are to be escorted to the Hussain sagar for the Prepossession."
In 1980, Balapur was the pioneer to drift the Balapur Vinayaka to the Hussian sagar for immersion accepting the Plea of Bhagyanagar Utsav Samithi.
Sri G. Raghunandhan Chary accompanied with his friends Sri. K. Indrasena Reddy, Sri. R. Janga Reddy, Sri. Agam Reddy, Sri K. Narasimha Reddy, Sri T. Chalama Reddy and Sri Kunta. Narasimha Reddy walked to Hussain sagar sans donations from the residents of Balapur for two years.
As the glory and honor of the event was booming, the commonality of Balapur andadmirers banded together with the existing association of five and gave a patronage in the form of donations and moral support.
Ever since then , the happening activity of Balapur Ganesha has become a visual feast to the devotees all over. Also god pouring blessings of boons over them.
From the commencement of the Balapur Ganesha Laddu Auction in 1994, the credited amount is expended on the welfare of the Balapur Village.
The Old Balapur Hanuman Temple which was in a desperate need of amends was renovated and reconstructed in with the help of Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi’s proceedings to the temple.
On 10th August, 2009, the foundation was laid for the construction of a temple for Lord Ganesha beside the Hanuman Temple.
Apart from the organizing of the Ganesh Utsav every year, most of the donations will be spent for the good of the Village and for the festivities to promote the integrity of the people of the village.
